Concert in the Park Sept, 2009
Kim and Doug host community events such as this to give back to the community. This event was held in the Inverness Gazebo on a beautiful day. Toys were set up for children to play together on. The Simon Fisk Trio www.simonfisk.com played Jazz Music as they are a past client of Kim and Doug’s. Hope to see you at the next event!
North Pole 2008
Kids love Santa Claus and dozens were hand on Saturday December 6, 2008 at the McKenzie Towne church to frolic at the North Pole and pose for pictures with Old Saint Nick.
The event was hosted by Kim and Doug Hayden, who live in the community and are celebrating the 10th anniversary selling real estate in the southeast corner of Calgary. The couple and the other members of Team Hayden organize many events in McKenzie Towne during the year, including the May garage sale, the Great Pumpkin Giveaway, McKenzie Frenzie Toddler Towne, July Celebration Fireworks, Stampede Breakfast @ High Street and others.
In the past, the Haydens have sponsored the McKenzie Towne Christmas Trade Show and Craft Fair. This year, Kim says they wanted to do something that was even more fun for families. They decided on a Christmas-themed family event and called it The North Pole.
“Times are kind of tough right now and we wanted to put on an event that let people get out with their kids and just have a good time, forget about things for a while,” Kim said.
There was no end of fun for children. They clustered around tables strewn with crayons and colouring books, filling in images of reindeer, elves and, of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus. Cookies are always popular with kids and they learned how to decorate sugar cookies – just before joyfully popping them in their mouths.
And what would a Christmas event be without a photo with Santa Claus? Santa was busy throughout the three hour event, which began at nine a.m.
Great Pumpkin Giveaway, 2008
For the past several years, Team Hayden has been hosting this popular McKenzie Towne Event. Residents are encouraged to bring a donation for the Interfaith Food Bank and drop it off in exchange for a free pumpkin. What a great way to get into the Halloween spirit and do something positive for your community. Look for details about this fun and important event each fall. This year we raised over 5 shopping carts of food!
