McKenzie Lake is nestled in a little triangle between the Deerfoot Trail to the east, Marquis of Lorne Trail (Highway 22X) to the south, and the Bow River to the northwest. The community is built around the man-made Lake McKenzie and McKenzie Lake Boulevard, which connects to the two major thoroughfares. Southeast of the Boulevard is McKenzie, northwest of the Boulevard is Mountain Park.

Public school students attend McKenzie Lake Elementary, Willow Park Elementary, R.T. Alderman Junior High in Maple Ridge, and Lord Beaverbrook High on Fairview Drive.

Separate school students attend Cardinal Newman Elementary/Junior High on McKenzie Lake Boulevard, and Bishop Grandin High in Haysboro.

The area has its own strip mall on McKenzie Lake Boulevard, with additional stores in nearby McKenzie Towne. There’s also Douglas Square at Deerfoot, and to the north in Douglas Glen. The largest area shopping centre is Southcentre Mall (Anderson Rd at Macleod Trail), with other shopping and a movie multiplex in Shaughnessy off Macleod Trail, via 22X.

43-acre Lake McKenzie and the adjacent 20-acre park with beach house provides community activities like boating, fishing, skating, swimming, picnicking and tennis. Members of the residents association pay annual fees.

On the west edge of the community, is the McKenzie Meadows Golf Club, on the bank of the Bow River. To its north is a pedestrian bridge across the Bow, with access to Fish Creek Provincial Park. The park also encompasses Lake Sikome, Fish Creek and connects fully to Calgary’s extensive recreational pathway system.

Look Before You List

We have nothing but good things to say. Considering how many clients Doug had, he always made us feel like we were the only ones. He made the house buying/selling process much less intimidating. We will definitely recommend Kim & Doug to others and will use them again in the future.
